Sportswear doesn’t necessarily need to be consigned to the gym, in fact more and more designers are creating sportswear styles for their clothing lines which can be worn as every day wear and they still look stylish and smart rather than casual.

When talking about sportswear style, we don’t mean going out in trackie b’s, hooded top and trainers. No you need to look for clothing which has a sportswear cut but still style which is smart, Jack & Jones clothing have a great choice of clothing which fits perfectly into this style.

Trousers, chino’s and cargo trousers in slim cuts are a must have. T-shirts and vests as well as light fitting track tops will be a welcomed addition to your wardrobe. Smart trainers, pumps and plimsolls will work for footwear. Finally a holdall style back or backpack can also be handy, plus many have had a stylish upgrade since you were at school.

With the highly anticipated release this year of The Great Gatsby starring Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, designers have come all retro with a heavy influence from the 1920’s. Plenty of glamour shine and shimmer in beaded flapper style dresses which have had a modern update bringing them into the 21st Century.

Key pieces to look out for from Lipsy clothing include the drop-waist cocktail dress, faux fur, T-bar shoes and plenty of pearls. You can add twenties influences easily to your everyday wardrobe, with satin blouses, mullet style skirts and boxy jackets. To give this style a modern twist, designers added neon colours peeking out under sheer creams and pastel colours.

Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman and Marc Jacobs based a lot of their collection around this style and influences were also seen at Gucci and from Victoria Beckham all with a great air of femininity for spring/summer. No doubt these styles will be ready on the highstreet for when the weather gets better.

Designers also used the twenties as inspiration for their accessories, Ralph Lauren went for bell-shaped hats with Dior following suit and at Balenciaga we saw oversized ‘mullet’ cloches. Heavier winter versions will be perfect to take you into spring, but keep an eye out for lighter softer version for later on in the season.

A lot of offices opt for a casual Friday work wear policy which means that on a Friday you can ditch your formal suit and opt for more comfortable attire. However many people find casual quite tricky from a sartorial sense, if you don’t dress properly then you could run the risk of losing credibility.

For many people when it comes to a more casual style, many people turn to jeans, however are they suitable for an office environment even on a casual Friday? Well I think you can as long as you follow some simple rules:

Don’t go for patterned, ‘bling’ style jeans, in general these are a no, no on men anyway however they certainly have no place in an office environment and the same goes for studs and white or acid wash denims.

Do stick to straight cut of boot cut 883 Police jeans in dark inky denim, these look tidier and much better than some of the modern slouch styles that are around. Also skinny jeans or tapered ‘carrot’ style jeans should be kept out of the work environment.

Don’t just swap your suit trousers for jeans, a formal suit jacket, shirt and tie probably won’t look that good with jeans, instead if you still want to look smart opt for a plain blazer and a soft coloured shirt and make sure you accessories with matching belt and shoes to finish off the look.

Even if it is a casual Friday there is no place for trainers in the office, unless they are in your gym bag for later. There are a great number of casual footwear styles around which style look tidy enough for office wear. Why don’t you move away from your usual black shoes and look at some brown coloured pairs, these look great with Republic jeans plus they look tidier than trainers.

It is really simple to manage casual Fridays without ruining your professional impact in the work place.

Brown is one of the most fundamental and universal colours in the fashion world. When most people buy clothes, they tend to go for neutral colours such as; navy blue, grey and black. Although these can be great as they go well with each other, very often people will go out and buy something brighter to create a sense of variation. For this reason brown gets overlooked. When most people think of brown they think of darkness, however camel and beige are much lighter shades that can go nicely with almost anything.

Wearing Brown Clothing

If you are new to wearing brown then a great way to ease yourself into the style is to pick up a nice pair of shoes. Brown shoes are considered to be far more stylish than black shoes and wearing them with some dark Republic jeans can give you a very classy and sophisticated look. Also, a brown leather jacket could be a great edition to your wardrobe.
Contrast is very important when dealing with brown. It can be a good idea to split up the colours with something neutral. It’s never a good idea to wear brown on brown if they are the same shade, such as both a camel t-shirt and cardigan. However, layering with a mixture of light and dark shades can work very nicely.

Men’s Outerwear

Brown is perfect for men’s outerwear, with brands like Calvin Klein focusing heavily on the importance of brown with their overcoats. Harrington mens jackets are also becoming increasingly popular when it comes to lighter shades of brown.

Brown

Paris is a magical city offering access to a wide variety of cultures, buildings and monuments, beautiful gardens, and fabulous shops. The cafés allow you to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a drink or a coffee.

Spread out beneath and around the majestic Eiffel Tower are museums and galleries offering exhibitions all year round. Besides the famous Mona Lisa, the Louvre’s collection of sculpture and painting includes artefacts dating from 5000 BC to 1848, after which the Musée d’Orsay became the repository for objects of historical or cultural interest. This museum was formerly a hotel and railway station and is across the river from the Tuileries. The Parisians enjoy using the Bat-o-Bus, which visits all three places, plus the Notre-Dame Cathedral on the Ile de la Cité and Hôtel de Ville.

Notre-Dame Cathedral

The Beaubourg or Centre Pompidou is the national centre of contemporary art and infamous for being built “inside out”. Its external courtyard is one of the most animated and popular spots in the city, where street entertainers ensure that gathering crowds are swept along by their enthusiastic and infectious performances.

A cruise along the Seine is a wonderful way to get to know Paris and its magical buildings, and the Paris Metro is an efficient way to move from one quarter to the next, making it possible to explore the Right bank with its mix of chic and almost-seedy areas and the Left bank which includes the Latin Quarter and the Sorbonne.

Metro

Paris is a city to which visitors are drawn again and again, no matter how many visits are made, there is always something new to see and do.

When Tavi Gevinson broke onto the fashion scene at the age of 12 no-one could have envisaged that she would become a style icon, but as her blog Style went from strength to strength she managed to attract a cult following which included a number of the biggest names in fashion. Now, at the age of 15, she has launched an online fashion magazine called Rookie aimed at bringing the latest fashion news to the world’s teenagers.

Gevinson said of her latest venture “It seemed like a good venue for pure aesthetic enjoyment and smart, fun writing. As my freshman year of high school progressed, I found myself needing something that could be more than that.”

Tavi started her fashion blog in 2008 and soon attracted the attention of Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Rodarte and other influential designers. Before long she was being asked by the likes of Harper’s Bazaar to interview such style icons as Gwen Stefani.

It will be posted three times a day, at the end of the school day, dinnertime and during the evening. Speaking about her new magazine, Gevinson said: “Our content respects a kind of intelligence in the readers that right now a lot of writing about teenage girls doesn’t. People think it’s just going to be another site or magazine that talks about how great celebrities are or how awful celebrities are or dieting… and I’m like ‘Just you wait and see. ‘ “

Sometimes one item of clothing we own can make us instantly feel sexy when we put it on however finding enough clothes to do that for us can be quite hard. For the average woman having the sex appeal many Hollywood starlets seem to have is quite hard to achieve, after all we don’t have their bank balances to afford a lot of the designer women’s dresses they can nor do we have a team of stylists hairdressers and make-up artists on hand.

However there are some simple things we mere mortals can do to add some sexiness to our daily outfits which will give you a much needed confidence boost……

Materials – When thinking of seductive materials, lace and satin come to mind, they are feminine but also romantic, lace works well because you can still see flesh through it which also adds intrigue.

Colours – The Little Black Dress (LBD) is popular with women because black is a seductive colour plus it also works well no matter what body shape you are. Red is another great colour, attention grabbing and seduction comes to mind when you think of red. If you don’t feel comfortable in dresses good fitting jeans and pretty women’s tops can also be just as effective.

Body – Men tend to be simple creatures with certain things they find a turn on, boobs and bum on the body, if you don’t have ample cleavage try using bra fillers or a push up padded bra. Bum lift pants and also padded pants can also give you the ‘ideal’ posterior. However if you don’t like the thought of disappointing a man once you take your clothes off, the right underwear and outfit can do wonders with what you already have.

Hair – Long hair is always considered to be sexy, although short styles can also do the job men tend to like their partners to have longer hair than them. Plus they also tend to like a woman who doesn’t spend hours in the bathroom taming said long locks.

Make-up – Subtle make up with definition round the eyes and a great smile emphasized by the right shad of lipstick will work well in your favour. The Smokey eye is the sexiest make up you can do, just remember not to go too dark or too heavy, panda eyes are not sexy.

Heels- Not everyone can wear sky scraper heels however even a cute kitten heel can be sexy, it’s all about elongating your legs so try to go as high as you can for ultimate sexiness. Make sure you have a nice sheen down the back of your legs too either with tights or a lotion this also lengthens your legs.

Winter is the season of big knits, big coats and snow-proof shoes.

If you’re designer conscious and wish to sport elegance this winter, then a coat made from Italian or French wool will be a good buy and will last over a few seasons.

The cashmere jumper is a good friend throughout the winter season and with the mid-season sales, you’re likely to pick up one at a reasonable price.

The Ugg boot has proven popular in keeping toes warm and their ever expanding range and year-round availability is testament to the brands success. It has also been known for the brand to give away pairs with slight faults in them – for free! Usually advertising this on social networking sites, it’s worth keeping an eye out if you want to save yourself £120.

With the military style evolving, you’re sure to find something on the high street that is both warm and lasting. The biker look is in; “wic” means sturdy, lasting leather boots – great for the snow.

If keeping warm is your only priority this winter, then an outdoor shop is the place. Brands such as Berghaus and The North Face have worked hard in recent years to marry ladies fashion clothing with their keep-warm technical garments.

A North Face winter coat may set you back £200, but it will last several years. With fabrics that include goose down for colder climes, its money well spent if the winters are set to get harsher.

Well in this day and age men’s fashion has really taken off, the mens shows at fashion weeks are always full and now designers give as much attention to their menswear collections as they do their women’s wear collections.

However the simple styles for men are sometimes the best when it comes to fashion, such as having a wardrobe full of plain men’s shirts, t-shirts, jeans and a couple of pairs of shoes, jackets and maybe the odd suit. In fashion you can always find classic clothing styles like this, just because a certain style is in fashion doesn’t mean that’s all there is, many highstreet stores and brands understand that some time you just want something classic.

For the past few years, checked shirts have been in fashion and have become a wardrobe staple, as have printed t-shirts, both are great on their own or can be worn together. Jean styles such as skinny have had their day in mens fashions however straight cut jeans have always been around and popular. Black suits generally follow the same style as well and a good quality will last you a long time, to give it a bit of a change though you can always alternate a few different coloured shirts and ties, without spending too much money.

Other items which rarely fade from fashion also include tracksuits and hoodies perfect for the gym or slouching around in! With fashion, if you are not brave you don’t need to worry, you don’t have to wear all the attest trends especially if they don’t suit you or make you feel uncomfortable, classics are always!

Stand out amidst a sea of LBDs this season is a bold green dress, one of the many favourite colours with designers this season. Green and other jewel-tones have taken over from the bright colours of summer, blending in with the richness of autumn. Seen on both daywear and as an alternative to the black dress at night, jewel tones are all set to become the hottest new colours of this autumn.

Bejewelled Glamour

From emerald to citrine, designers have borrowed from a host of warm jewel-inspired colours to create an ensemble that is luxurious and eye-catching. Ready-to-wear collections were full of glimmering outfits in gold, honey yellow, ruby red and sapphire blue, among others. Satin materials added an extra bit of vibe to the creations.

The best way to wear this look is to put the dress with accessories like jewelled bags and shoes. While the mixed-hued look is also popular, more usually seen is the more traditional one colour, worn with a neutral colour like black, camel or grey. As the dress is the centre of the entire outfit, the accessories will have to be toned down accordingly.

Jewel tones look great on all types of figures and because they feature details like pleating and draping, it is possible with a little experimentation to put together an elegant look by combining a few pieces.

This season make the best of jewel tones and sparkle like a gem at the next cocktail party.
