Must-have Summer Dresses
We’re not alone in mentioning that Republic have some awesome dresses in their summer collection this year, but now the range is out in full we thought we’d take some time out to review the highlights.
This funky little number is pretty, shapely and girlie in all the right ways. No girl has ever gone wrong with a strappy summer dress in her wardrobe and this hits all the right notes.
Burlesque has been one of the surprise fashion trends over the last couple of years (and has given some feminists a near embolism as they try to figure out whether it’s demeaning or empowering!) and this funky dress plays neatly with the style and iconography of classic burlesque to great effect. Not one for the office!
Denim dresses haven’t exactly been much in evidence since the days of hairy armpits and 70s metal, so it’s long overdue a revival. This chunky design would look sensational with a rainbow-stripe long sleeved top and funky wooden wedges for the full retro look.
OK – so that high thigh hemline isn’t for the faint of heart or anyone with more than a trace of cellulite, but if you can carry it off this is a stunning number to pull out for a more formal occasion. Highly recommended for cocktail parties on the lawn, the better clubs or any kind of function where you’re looking to make a splash.
